Blog #5

We have talked about the power of the internet to bring us information and to help connect our lives with others.  We've also discussed the pros and cons of internet fame with the Antoine Dodson phenomenon and readings.  Just recently there is news of the internet being used with disasterous results.
Click on the links below and write a clear paragraph in response to them both.  What do you think?

  1. I Personally feel disgusted with the people that can do such a thing. Discriminating on people is the lowest thing or standard a person can do now. I have plenty of gay friends and they are treated just like the non-gay's, I feel that it's not a con on the internet because it first starts with bullying. It one of the reason why Tyler Clementi committed suicide. Writing about this makes me wonder in the type of world we live in. RIP to Tyler Clementi and Condolences to the Clementi Family.

  2. My opinion i think everyone should have ther own privacy even if they are gay straight or whatever. It was definately an invasion of privacy on that kids side for spying on the gay kid in the first place. I feel as long as the person is minding ther own buissness and doing their own thing than nobody should criticize anyone else who is of a different sexuallity or prefference.

  3. i find this to all be disgusting for a kid to put a camra in the room secretly and to record his so called friend havin sex with an other man, while enjoyin the moment to put it on facebook and twitter. i have plenty of gay friends and i treat them as any striaght person... gay are striaght, we are all humans, and not a thing like that should happen to anyone... RIP Tyler Clementi

  4. I feel like internet fame is not good, because like what the guy did to his roommate was hurt as he was in his feelings.
However, He had no right to do what he did gay or no gay. If the guy asked; for, his privacy then he should have gave it to him fully and not have way such as spying on his roommate. I don’t know why he did that anyway if you knew he was gay back in October then why do what you did and past a sex tape online such as Facebook, online entertainment, and ect. I feel like that people that do stuff like that do not have a Life. The roommate did nothing to him and he did not have no reason to do what he did. He did not get any money for what he did not get no money for it because he got locked up.
I feel like that yeah that will make people want to kill themselves; because, they all over the internet and that make people not want to leave there lives anymore because basically there like is over such as social life, because people would not want to hang out with people like that. Then you can also think about them getting a job or going to a different school. I could not do it because it all over the news and it live. There for internet fame is not good because it make you look bad as a person and whoever did it.

  5. I think this was wrong in so many ways, but at the same time I don't think Tyler should have committed suicide. No matter what people are always gonna talk about you, it's just a part of life. You just have to be the one to ignore it or to let it get to you. I'm sure he was mortified of the situation, but everubody's time comes. It was wrong of his roomate to spy on him to find out if he was gay rather than just asking and he probably was just making a joke, but look where it ended. Not only was the roomate wrong for spying, but also for broadcasting his findings. This all goes to say when you are about to do something, think of the affect it will have on others and this incident should make all gay people look at this and learn from it. Don't make the same mistake Tyler did, prepare yourself for situations like this especially with the world we live in. Rest in perfect peace to Tyler Clementi.

  6. Being a Gay, lesbian,bi,or quere in our society is a big issue now days. as i watched the video i felt upset, because tyler shouldnt have to go threw this just because he was gay, and express his feeling towards the same sex that he enjoys. i have friends that are gay and they get the same treatment, but they love the attention. for example when im walking down the street with my friends and their gay. people automatically think im gay, or thats my other spouse that im talking to. i fell sorry for tyler because he shouldnt have went threw this, just because of his sexuality and what he choose to be in life.

  7. My thoughts on this blog is that if peopel mind their own business then more peopel wouldn't get hurt. Discriminating on ones feeling to something is one of my petpeeve it really miss with me. my condolence goes out to Clememti family. His roommate was wrong for doing him like that. If he wanted to join he should have stay in the room. instad of post it online, and watching it he should ask the roommate about his self. It also fall down to people feeling he wouldn't wanted his sex tape on the web for everybody in the world can see.

    - To me "bullying and humiliation that puts adolescents and young adults at a particularly high risk for suicide" is just CRAZY. Why couldn't Clementi confront himself and be a man. I know for a fact that God only made a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman, no human can be both. Why couldn't he accept himself the way God made him. This is just crazy that Clementi jumped off a bridge for this. On the other had his roomates had no right to be spying on him, they should worry about their own business. My opinion is that this is just Non sense, people are now killing themselves because they can't handle life. Haters become nobody he should've just ignore it and move on with life.

    - Ravi and Wei deserved a better punishment, they had no right to videotape anyone. They just don't have a life, and need to grow up. If people are gay, lisbian,bi sexual or whatever they call themselves, we should just leave them alone. One wy or the other they will realize what they really are, and make a change in their lifes.

  10. For the first link I believe that it was wrong for Ravi to post up the video up on the Internet live when so many people in this world, including little kids, can watch everything that is up on YouTube. For Tyler to jump off that bridge was wrong of him because he needed to think twice before he did that. If Tyler knew that his roommate; Ravi knew that he was gay, then he should have confronted him and move to a different dorm. Since he didn't want to tell anyone about his situation, Tyler just took his own actions and jumped of the bridge without even thinking. Also, for Ravi to invade his privacy without permission and to show the world live. I believe that everyone in this world has his own path to take; no matter what path they take, there will always be one person who hates on them.

For the second link I believe that Ravi had no right at all to tweet on Twitter about how his roommate needed the dorm until midnight and start to peep at his friend's dorm and for her to follow his footsteps. For Ravi to show the video live on the Internet is terrible and for him to announce it on Twitter is the worst. Tyler should have never jumped of that bridge because he still had loved ones to think about. At the end none of that really mattered to him and he just decided to end his life by jumping of that high bridge. It is sad to know that in today's society young teens want to kill themselves because of the bully's that bother them. I believe that people have the choice to make in this world; whether they want to take the right path, or the wrong path. Today, more and more and being known as gay and they are proud of it; some on the other hand believe that it is not right and they should just kill themselves.

    RIP Tyler Clementi

  11. The problem with our society today we care too much of what people are doing with their lives. I personally rather not be around a gay environment, because it is not spiritual healthy for me to see. Even though I am not doing God's work right now, I do believe in him, and I don't believe in the gay community. I don't judge people because I am no one to judge because I am not perfect myself. What happen to Tyler was indeed wrong. He asked his roommate for some privacy, so he could do whatever he wanted to do. Instead that triffling young man wanted be to noisy and left his webcam on. That young man did not just record it, he also put it on youtube. Ravi wasn't alone on this he had a partner in crime, which is Molly.

I'm not going to sit here and lie because that young man should of known better than that and he knows it too. Tyler felt so humiliated he jumped off a bridge! Come on now that is just insane folks. Tyler killed himself over this humiliation he couldn't handle this impact. Youtube was not the only website Ravi used to publicly humiliate Tyler ; he also wrote on twitter that he was the he was the one behind all of this. Meaning he purposely turn the webcam on and left to Molly room, and watched him from there. This mean he knew what he was doing he just made the dumb decsion to put it all over the internet being all hot about what his roomate did. This was a dumb crime by young adults that push another person to committ suicide. All of this is because of the lack of security and privacy the internet provides in our society. If the internet was to be less exposive maybe none of ths would of never happen, but since we are human we are always eager to invent new things. This is an issue to be aware off before more lives are taken.

  12. Personally I believe that is sad that now at days such things happen in society. I think that there’s no reason to make fun of some people sexual orientation, judge or even get into their personal life much like the roommate (Ravi) who decide to record Tyler while he was with his friend. Also media plays a big role on this; In this case he (Tyler) was afraid of what people where going to think of him so, being unable to handle the pressure he committed suicide. I think that Tyler did go too far when he committed suicide because he should have been confident in his feelings. In conclusion I think that people should respect other people’s opinions or orientations.

  13. what Tyler roommate did to him was cold and wrong, i understand that. What i dont understand, is why did ger committed sucide. been Gay was his chioce and no one should make him feel uncomfortable. People are thinking way to hard than they should, they worried about stuff that have no meaning and value. i feel bad for his family.

  14. I think that both of these stories are sad. They both have affected the world because alot of a celebrities have reached out and spoke about bullying. Wendy Williams, Ellen Degeneres, and other people have spoken about it. Privacy is very important to people and bullys are always looking in someone elses buisness to start something. The guy whole filmed the boiy in his dorm was looking for trouble and he should be charged and that is bullying, whether he thinks it is or not.

  15. OK. well to me i really don't care about what people decide to do with their lives, thats why god gave me my own and did not have us meet. Although I dont have problems with gay people, its like why would you be gay and not just come out and be proud about it. Thats with everything in life, not just gays. Still, if you keep anything bottledd up for a liong time it will eventually have to come out somehow and it mite not always be the best way that you want it to be. If you would have just been proud about who you are it wouldnt have matterd. If he would have came out already he probrably wouldn't have tried this
