We have viewed the Antoine Dodson's "Bed Intruder Song" YouTube video and read two articles about his internet phenomenon. The article entitled "Laughing At Or With Antoine Dodson" from National Public Radio examined two opposing viewpoints regarding Dodson's celebrity status. The article asked the question: Are people laughing AT or WITH Antoine Dodson? What do you think and why? Write a paragraph with a topic sentence and at least two supporting sentences explaining your point of view.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion society is laughing with him and laughing at him (it goes both ways). Majority of the society that watches Antoine Dodson videos have relatively experience about the situation,and the other half just thinks its a parody,or being used in some type of entertainment fashion to society. In actuality Antoine Dodson is just a normal guy who lived in the Projects and found a way to become famous off his 20 minutes of fame on tv.
ReplyDeleteAntonine Dodson has been interview twice,frist about the dramatic problem about his sister being almost raped and second interview about his internet fame from his frist interview. Based on this interviews, i belive the people are laughing with him for two reason. One reason is becasue he said he was being himself and very protective to his sister which made me understand that he was realy taking this seriously, so it makes me feel good that he was warning the community and this gains me a respect to him to laugh with him then at him. My second reason is becasue he is realy a good person. In his second interview he was calm and being nice to the reporter and happy and also, in some of of his internet pages, he is helping other's in need so this makes me more likley to laugh with him then at him.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say both because what he done and said was wrong but its positive and in a negative ways it life people don't think before during things. One reason I would have to say i am laughing at is because, what is he done was crazy, wild, and just stupid because he made himself look like a fool. that is not a good thing because what he did and said was just races. Like now it not much that you can really say such as him now being famous now. One reason i am not laughing at him is because I mean yeah it's not cool at all to just sit up here and make a song about someone getting raped come on now. I understand that you are raised and born in the projects you just have to accept that and live your life how it was. Another reason i am laughing at him is because i wounder what people think of him like you can't look up at no one like him. yeah i know he famous now but know one will look up to him like, for example you have Alicia Keys that is a singer and she plays the piano as her talent and very famous. I could not see no looking up to him because what he said and done was not cool at all.

Antoine Dodson is being laughed at by America and the rest of the world. No one really is laughing with him, is more of at him. The reason why I think they are laughing at him is because on the YouTube music video of “Bed Intruder Song”, two white guys are pretending to be news reporter and not giving any importance to the matter, what they are really doing is making fun of him. Even though Antoine Dodson tried to turn a negative matter into a positive matter, people did not really get his message through their heads. They instead paid more attention to the way he speaks and the way he act instead of paying attention to what happened to his family and him. Since no one really cared about his situation, he took advantage of it. He became famous through the internet and took advantage of it since that was all he could basically do. He does not mind people laughing at him, because now he is making money out of it. It is wrong to laugh at person that has been through a bad experience that some people have also experienced as well. We are supposed to be supportive, not unsupportive by making a video and not taking serious actions of a crime that has been committed.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the Antoine Dodson video I did laugh at first. It was a serious matter but the way it was handled was unprofessional which made it more comedic than serious. When the victims brother, Antoine, is explaining the situation to the news cast he is very upset. His anger is what makes the viewers laugh at him. Instead of being professional and saying he was angry he rolls his head, snaps his fingers, uses very poor language, and acts very ignorant. If he were to act like he had an education instead of acting "ghetto" as the stereotype is put , people would take Antoine seriously. The fact that a song was made out of this video just shows how unserious he was acting about the raping. I personally think that we are all laughing at him , not with him.

THOUGH WHEN KELLY SAID SHE IT WASN'T BECAUSE SHE WAS PRETTY MADE ME LOOK AT IT HAS A JOKE.I THINK IF BOTH KELLY AND ANTOINE DUDSON WENT ABOUT IT MORE SERIOUS ABOUT THE SITUATION YET MORE PROFESSIONAL IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA...VIEWERS WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE GENEROUS.
ReplyDeleteI think people are laughing at Antoine Dodson. My reasons for saying this is because they made a song out of the whole situation and made the whole thing a joke. No one seemed to take anything about this serious. People are laughing at Antoine Dodson because of the way he went about the situation, he was being ghetto and doing a whole lot of neck rolling and snapping. I understand that he was mad, but it's ways to react especially if you're on national television. He should have been a little more mad in a professional way. I have seen angry people on the News and they didn't act half the way Antoine did.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think about this situation is that people are laughing AT Antoine Dodson because they didn't see his case serious. Even if he was interviewed by the news reporters, he should have acted more serious then acting ghetto in front of the camera. I understand that he's mad and fustrated at the same time because the rapist left, but at least he has people investigating the case as well. Since this came on national televison, people only saw the way he was acted and didn't take it serious as well either. The ones who found this situation a joke was the Gregory Brothers who made the video into a song and uploaded it on youtube for the whole world to see. That video is what made Antoine Dodson famous and now he even has a website for himself. But in the end, I personally think that people were laughing at him and not with him.

They laughing at him because of the way he was acting in the first interview with the news reporter.Getting all in the camera shaking his head like that and to be a homsexual the public took it and run with it. The other reason why they laughing with him is through making videos and songs, thats funny but to back at what happened was not funny so thats were it all come back to is that situation. That my thoughts on the Antoine Dodson story.

I don’t like the way he carried him self I understand that he was upset but he could have act differently he was putting things in front of the camera, bobbing his neck and, rolling his eyes. It shows America an image that all African American people are all the same. As in having no self-control not saying I am better than anyone, but I can carry myself in a different way if I was put in that situation. I understand he does not think that he s being saw that way but to me he is and don’t get me wrong I find it very amusing. He still could have conduct him self in some type of other way. Well I understand he become a famous from his song hes making a little money off t and he likes it
I personally believe that most of the people are laughing at him based on the way he acted after her sister was attempted to be rape.I think He didn’t seem to take this situation as serious at it was, he was acting in a funny way in front of the cameras.

First of all he didnt spoke appropriately to the camera he spoke funny.Another reason i think they are laughing at him is because they made a video of him doing all this drama and it looked even more funny. so these are my opinions about Dodson situation

People usually don't learn from other peoples mistakes. Most people learn their own misfortunes. So are people laughing at Antoine Dodson, i believe so.

ReplyDeleteI think its both people are laughing at him and with him. Its 50/50 because some people think that what he said was funny over the news about hiding your kids, wifes and husband to. Also from what the two brothers made the song out of his interview from the news. Alot of people thought those were funny and serious things about the song and interview.
